May 02, 2025

Ghanaian-American sensation Moliy is set to take centre stage as one of the headliners for the debut of AfroJam Jamaica, scheduled for June 26-29.

Known for her smash hit, Shake It To The Max, Moliy has made waves globally, with fans enthusiastically recreating the infectious dance routine in public spaces -- even in front of moving cars.

The track has helped to announce her as an international force.

In addition to Moliy , fans can also look forward to a performance from Good Energy Afrobeat artiste Yung Wylin .

AfroJam Jamaica promoter Susannah Salmon told THE WEEKEND STAR that Moliy was a natural fit for the festival, not just for her popularity, but also for how she proudly embraces her Ghanaian heritage.

"She is one of the biggest up-and-coming Afrobeat artiste...and she's making waves in the industry" Salmon said.

Lashaun Suer, the event's marketing manager, echoed the sentiment, emphasising Moliy's growing appeal and social media success.

"Moliy is also young and fresh and she made her break on social media. The impact she made is very big. So it would only be fitting to have an Afrobeat festival in Jamaica and feature Moliy on it as an upcoming, successful young artiste who everybody wants to collaborate with right now across the Caribbean, US and Africa," Suer added.

Moliy first captured attention in 2020 with Sad Girlz Luv Money. Her career skyrocketed in 2024 when she teamed up with Jamaica-born producer Silent Addy on Shake It To The Max (Fly). The track gained major traction on TikTok, topped the UK Afrobeats Singles Chart, and climbed to number 70 on the UK Singles Chart by April 4, 2025 -- marking her second charting single.

Her recent visit to Jamaica saw her collaborating with dancehall stars Shenseea and Skillibeng, who both featured on a remix of the track. The trio also performed the remix live at Kingston's iconic Uptown Mondays street dance.

With her growing reputation and undeniable talent, the AfroJam team was eager to bring her back to headline the festival.

"Though she is young, her achievement, drive and huge presence in the Afrobeat market guarantees her a place to represent as a 'strong product of Africa, representing through Afrobeat music,'" Salmon noted.

The four-day festival promises an eclectic line-up of both local and international acts, offering a cultural fusion event unlike anything Jamaica has seen before.

"We're bringing the heart of Africa to the soul of the Caribbean," said Salmon, a Sierra Leonean who has lived in Jamaica for the past decade.
