The incumbent for St Catherine South East, Robert 'Big Rob' Miller, says he is pleased so far with the show of support for the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) in the constituency.

He told reporters today that when the votes are tallied later this evening, he expects to get the nod to return to Gordon House.

Miller said he has done the work in his constituency, and voters have assured him they want him to continue as Member of Parliament.

"We are confident. We have done the work over the last five years. The administration has performed as well, and I am confident that after tonight I will be the Member of Parliament for South East St Catherine," he said.

Brushing aside the PNP's historical dominance of the seat, Miller said he has been working to make St. Catherine South East a model constituency.

From 1989 to 2011, the People's National Party had a strong grip on all three seats in Portmore.

In 2020, Miller wrested St Catherine South East from the PNP's Colin Fagan.

Miller, who hails from Portmore, cast his vote at 1:27 p.m. at polling station 47, located at Cumberland High School in St Catherine.

The only seat held by the PNP in Portmore during the last parliamentary term was St Catherine South, where Fitz Jackson is expected to be re-elected--making him a so-called "eight-star general."

St Catherine East Central was held by the JLP's Alando Terrelonge in the last parliamentary term.
