Birthday voter hopes for PNP win as 'icing on the cake' in St Mary Western
Tashanya Thompson says a victory for her preferred candidate, the People's National Party's Omar Woodbine, in St Mary Western would make her 33rd birthday even sweeter.
Woodbine is seeking to unseat the Jamaica Labour Party's Robert Montague.
"It was an excellent process. I voted in Geddes Town. I decided to vote for a change," she said.
"If the PNP wins, it would be the icing on the cake. It definitely would be a celebration for me to remember," said Thompson, who has been living in Jacks River for about 15 years, told The Star.
She wasn't the only one turning up in high spirits.
Her mother, 57-year-old Gartelda Dacres, also came out with two of her daughters.
"I have five daughters and three sons, and all of them voted. The whole family is PNP--both their father and stepfather are party supporters," she declared.
"I voted because the Labour government needs to change. I hope to see more upliftment for young people--more jobs, education, and so on."
