Fake. That's the word from the Financial Investigations Division (FID) in dismissing an image being circulated on social media platforms falsely claiming that it has ruled that Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness be charged for financial crimes.

In a release today, the FID said the claims are "false, baseless, and malicious" as the "department has issued no such ruling, announcement, or statement."

According to the body, as a law enforcement agency within the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service, it operates strictly within the laws of Jamaica.

"All investigations are conducted in keeping with established protocols, and any public communication regarding charges or proceedings is made formally and through legitimate channels," said the FID.

The agency is urging members of the public to be cautious in sharing unverified information from unreliable sources.

"Spreading misinformation not only undermines the reputation of individuals and institutions, but it can also erode public trust in Jamaica's justice system."
