Dancehall stars D'Angel and Khago have teamed up to deliver a fiery new anthem for independent women. Their collaborative single, ' Press Button', was crafted to rebuild and instil a sense of self-value and self-worth, especially among women.

Khago, who served as the songwriter and musical director for the track, explained the creative process behind the single in an interview with THE STAR.

"Mi a duh engineer wuk long before mi buss because a me record all a mi song dem. Suh mi sing and record all addi song [Press Button] professionally - di swag and di flow of it and mek shi sound different when shi sing it because a my flow dat. Suh all mi duh a mute, mute one, one word and mek shi sing over parts of it and leave some spots inna it wid mi vocals because it woulda sound better dah way deh - it gives her a new sound," Khago shared.

D'Angel was equally thrilled to explore this new creative technique, describing the experience as a breakthrough moment for her sound.

"It's a marvellous genius idea because yuh affi know music fi have dat kinda creativity. Dis was supm new to me suh I really learnt something new," an excited D'Angel told THE STAR.

Reflecting on the collaboration, she added, "I had a song before but I wasn't feeling it suh mi link Khago and seh 'mi need supm fi mek di woman dem feel good bout demself. Di song dem nowadays naah gi di woman nutten fi uplift demself; mi waah supm weh a talk bout woman independence and women empowerment;' and him call mi back in minutes and seh him write di song."

Khago understood the assignment.

"From shi seh 'independent' mi know wah fi duh and shi liked it instantly. Angel is a fast learner because some artistes take a million tries to get a punch; from shi just listen to it couple seconds and di punch record, shi get it. All Angel need is a proper songwriter and recorder who a record di song properly fi har, wid di right flow, swag and melody and Angel can run di place," Khago declared.

Produced by Ricardo James of Feel Good Boss Music, the track is currently receiving its final touches and is set for official release by next week.

D'Angel recounted her dedication to perfecting the song's unique vibe, describing how she travelled two hours from Kingston to Mandeville to bring Khago's concept to life. Their studio session, recorded live on Khago's Di Stream TikTok programme, captivated countless number of fans in real-time.

"I was amazed and I could feel the love," D'Angel said.

She believes Press Button will resonate deeply with women.

"This song is gonna be another female anthem because it's already poised to be great. It's really promoting women empowerment in a saucy way, because independent women nowadays saucy wid it enuh. Because they work so hard now and affi a manage dem family, manage dem life so independent women nowadays are so levelled up so I had to make sure the song matched the energy of these women while encouraging those who desire to reach that level," D'Angel explained.

Driving home the song's powerful message, D'Angel added:

"Nowadays women nuh need man fi survive or be dependent on any man, das when dem move dem foot yuh drop, and a dah kinda energy Press Button give, and a it mi did want, and Khago find it fi mi."
