While he has been campaigning for residents of Hanover Eastern to vote for him, Jordan Cunningham, the candidate for the United Independent Congress (UIC), cannot vote for himself as he is not on the voter's list.

Cunningham only recently registered, so he is not among the persons who can vote today on election day.

Speaking with The Star, Cunningham said he does not see this impediment as a problem, arguing that he would be a good representative if elected.

He said his entry into representational politics is a "leap of faith" taken by him, adding that, if elected, his focus will be on the economic empowerment of the youth of the constituency.

Cunningham is running against incumbent Jamaica Labour Party candidate Dave Brown, who is seeking a third straight term in office, the People's National Party's Andrea Purkiss, and the Jamaica Progressive Party's Craig Eubanks.
