Long waits in heat frustrate early-morning voters in St James West Central
Irritated voters at the St James West Central polling station in Catherine Hall are fuming this morning after enduring over an hour in the scorching heat just to cast their ballots.
Several residents said that despite arriving as early as 6:50 a.m., they were left standing outside with little shade and no special arrangements made for elderly voters.
"It hot bad out yah and dem nah make no provision fi old people. We out yah from morning," one voter complained.
They also point out the lack of provisions to accommodate senior citizens especially in this extremely hot conditions.
The situation has been made worse, according to some, by delays inside the polling station. They allege that inexperienced officers are struggling to manage the process efficiently.
"We believe the officers indoors are young and are not familiar with the process, so it is taking much longer," one voter said.
Despite the challenges, voters have remained in line, determined to make their mark in today's general election.
