Taxi driver fatally shot near Kingston Public Hospital

A taxi driver was shot and killed this morning near the Kingston Public Hospital during an altercation with another driver.

Police said the victim has been identified as 44-year-old Carlo Ellis, who operates along the Jones Town taxi route. Reports indicate that the other man involved, a former police officer, has turned himself in to authorities.

Area Four Commander Senior Superintendent Michael Phipps told reporters that police received word of the shooting around 10:15 a.m., and the scene was immediately secured. Relatives identified Ellis at the scene.

Investigators are continuing to probe the circumstances surrounding the deadly confrontation.
