Mystery of the missing twins - Heartbroken dad searches for daughters; Ex-wife claims they never existed
When his ex-wife told him that she was pregnant approximately four years ago, Jack* was overjoyed.
Not only would he be 'hopping off the gelding truck' in his late 50s, but his blessing would be doubled as Jane* was carrying twin girls. His plans were to have them migrate to the US where he currently resides in order for them to have a better life. But he has fallen into depression as he has not seen his daughters since November 2023, and his ex-wife refuses to tell him their whereabouts.
"My daughters were born in May 2022 and I saw them. When I came to Jamaica in January 2023 and got to her house, she didn't have the girls with her. I asked her where my daughters at and she didn't want to say anything and she was just making up excuses and telling me that they were not there. I had brought things for my daughters. Since then I am just not getting anywhere as it relates to [knowing] where they are," Jack said. Confused and bewildered, Jack said he made a report to the police who promised to get in contact with the children's mother.
"It's very stressful as they are my only children. I had plans for them like any good parent. I saw them last in November 2022 and I even asked her for copies of their birth certificate but she refused to give them to me as she didn't want me to take them overseas. I held my daughters the last time I saw them," he said.
Jane was not in a position to speak with THE STAR but one of her close relatives said that Jack was delusional. She stated that Jane and Jack were married after meeting on a dating site. But she stated that Jane, who was in her 50s at the time of conception, had a miscarriage shortly after her first trimester. She stated that this information was passed on to Jack but he remains convinced that she had given birth.
"Jane was indeed pregnant and she got pregnant at the same time that I was. The ultrasound showed that she was having twins. He was paying her bills and they were married legally. She miscarried. The pictures that he has is that of my baby and he thinks it's one of his twins. Maybe she misled him and let him think that my son was one of the babies but she did miscarry. I don't know who he saw when he came to Jamaica but they weren't his babies," the woman said.
When THE STAR showed the woman a photograph of a baby that was obtained from Jack, she said it was her son, but he was wearing a bonnet. Jack also showed THE STAR a photograph of what appears to be two babies. He also has a video of a baby being soothed by a woman's voice in the background. Jane's relative admitted that it was her baby, but Jane's voice.
"That is her deceiving him. But he was told that the babies didn't make it so I guess because he didn't believe, she just went ahead and do what she did," she said. But Jack remains adamant that his children are alive.
"She (Jane) does not have any medical records to show that she had a miscarriage. This is one of the arguments I will argue when I take her to Family Court. I have proof of life of the babies as I saw them on video and even held them. I came to Jamaica when Jane was even seven months pregnant, so how could she lose the baby at four months?" he asked.
"I believe she gave birth to my daughters and give them away. I remember a time when one of the girls had low blood levels and I had to come to Jamaica and buy the medication. If I was indeed deceived by this woman, then I will be filing charges for paternity fraud," he added.
