Injury forces Clayton out of Jamaica’s World Champs squad
Jamaica's team manager, Ian Forbes, has confirmed that reigning women's 400m hurdles national champion Rushell Clayton has withdrawn from the team for the 2025 World Athletics Championships due to injury.
"I can confirm that Ms Rushell Clayton has been withdrawn due to injury," Forbes said as the team arrived in Tokyo ahead of the championships.
Clayton, a two-time World Championships medallist and three-time national champion, has battled injuries throughout this season. She registered a Did Not Finish (DNF) at the Kingston Grand Slam and, despite briefly returning to claim her third national title in June, has been sidelined since due to lingering issues.
The World Championships are set to begin on September 13 at the Japan National Stadium.
