Residents of Denham Town in West Kingston were left in shock on Sunday after a bitter clash over alleged paternity fraud ended in bloodshed.

A man was fatally stabbed after he confronted his ex-girlfriend about raising a child that DNA tests reportedly proved was not his.

When THE STAR visited the gritty community yesterday, residents clammed up. But one alleged eyewitness broke the silence, painting a picture of betrayal, rage, and revenge.

"She give him a jacket," the resident said, explaining that the man had spent years caring for a child who was later proven not to be his.

"The baby under six years old. After that, him put her up on him status with the song weh say, ' give mi my money back' and dat cause a problem."

According to the resident, the confrontation spiralled out of control after the man demanded repayment of the money he had spent on the child. Heated arguments reportedly escalated, with the woman hurling insults and refusing to back down.

"Mi speak to her and tell her say she wrong, although she probably didn't know say him wasn't the dad," the resident continued.

The police report that, about 1:30 p.m., the deceased man, age 32, was in his community when a dispute with a female became physical. During the altercation, the woman used a knife to inflict stab wounds to his upper body. He was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The woman sustained injuries to face, neck and shoulder and left arm. She is currently in the custody of the police.

The resident stated that, although the argument turned physical, no one in the community would have dreamt that the end result would have been deadly.

"Everybody shock, enuh," one resident said. "Nobody never expect dis."
