Saturday’s Reggae 6 may be season’s gift

SATURDAY's Reggae 6, which follows the Boxing Day mandatory payout, could be the value bet to close the season with three tough events to navigate, especially the opener for optional $350,000 claimers at five and a half furlongs.

RUM WITH ME, an easy winner at five furlongs straight on last appears the obvious choice. However, the round course, especially an added half-furlong, could expose chinks in a straight-specialist's armour.

A safe bet would be to surround RUM WITH ME with horses who could come alive on the round course. LAST DANCE, JON P, DODGE THIS LINK and LITTLE GROVY THING are the quartet capable of raining on RUM WITH ME's parade.

Maiden two-year-olds will land any bet in a pickle, more so at six furlongs. A total of four debutants, who could be anything, join THE CHEF MASTER and ANOTHER QUALITY in the second, on which Reggae 6 bettors should spend no time trying to decipher the unknown with the 'all' button at their disposal in a small field.

PRINCE ZAYDEN and SECRET SENSATION are obvious choices among three-year-old maidens at five furlongs straight in the third.

SIR DON is everybody and their aunt's banker in the six-furlong Dye Job Sprint. Another American, JORDON REIGN'S, is a follow-up gift on a $700,000 tag in the fifth at five furlongs straight.

Close the 2025 Reggae 6 season with an appropriate six selections in the sixth event, no pun at all intended. ASCEND, FOUR THIRTY, ALL TOGETHER, FAMILY FEUD, NATIVE FLYER and storming closer BANGARANG are hard to separate at five furlongs straight.
