Sister’s babyfather curses me over my money
Dear Pastor,
I am 22 years old and my sister is 24. She is living with her boyfriend, but he is not permanently employed. He does odd jobs.
When she got pregnant, she was not working and they were behind in their rent. She had to prepare for her baby. Her boyfriend came to me and asked me if I would be willing to lend them $70,000. He told me that his mother, who was living in England, had planned to send some money for them.
Before I agreed to give them the $70,000 loan, I spoke to my sister and she said she would see to it that I received the money. I told both of them what I was saving the money for, and they told me not to worry, they would pay me back. I went to the bank and withdrew the money.
I have good reasons to believe that this man's mother sent him the money that she promised him, but he has not paid me my $70,000. After six months passed, I asked my sister why they hadn't paid me. She said I should wait because they are not running away. After a year passed, I told her man that I wanted back my money and to my horror, this man told me three stinking bad words that brought me to tears. From that day, I have not talked to my sister nor the man.
I told my mother what happened and she told me that I was wrong to help them. I have, in writing, the agreement we made when they borrowed the money. Do you think I should sue them?
What do you think I should do?
B.
