Massive 100m PB for Moore

ASHANTI Moore and Danniel Thomas-Dodd were in good form yesterday at the Serbia Athletics meeting in Beograd, Serbia -- a World Continental Tour Bronze meet -- after picking up wins in their respective events.
It was Moore who stole the spotlight, however, after producing a massive personal best of 10.94 seconds (+0.7 mps) to win the women's 100 metres.
Following her recent qualification for the women's 200m at the Tokyo World Championships -- when she clocked 22.40 to win in Austria -- Moore continued her red-hot form with a special performance.
After posting a season-best 11.08 in the semi-finals at the National Senior Championships, Moore dipped under 11 seconds for the first time in her career.
In the process, she improved on her previous best of 11.04, set two years ago, and became the fifth-fastest Jamaican female in the event this season -- just behind fourth-placed Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, who has a best of 10.91.
Another Jamaican in the event, Krystal Sloley, had to settle for fifth in 11.28.
Salome Kora of Switzerland was second in a season-best 11.15, while Lotta Kemppinen of Finland took third in 11.25.
CONVINCING
Olympian Thomas-Dodd was a convincing winner in the women's shot put, heaving the ball to a distance of 19.04 metres. Emilia Kangas of Finland was second with a personal best of 18.82m.
The other Jamaican female at the meet, Kimberly Williams, failed to register a mark in the women's triple jump.
Sprint hurdler Lafranz Campbell had the best result among Jamaican males at the meet. Competing in the men's 110m hurdles, Campbell finished fourth in 13.68, while countryman Dejour Russell ended sixth in 13.93.
Kendry Lazaro Menendez of Cuba took the win in 13.42, finishing ahead of South Africa's Mandrey Barnard, second in 13.57, with his countryman John Sdekolo third in 13.60.
Jamaicans did not fare well in the men's 100m, as Michael Campbell could only manage fifth in 10.36 and Julian Forte finished sixth in a slow 11.91.
Tsebo Matsuso of South Africa won the event in 10.08.
Jamaica's Dominic Williams was third in the B final, clocking 10.36.
