Jamaica out Concacaf U-20 Champs
Madeline Dahlien scored a hat-trick to inspire the United States of America (USA) to a 4-0 win over Jamaica at the Estadio Felix Sanchez in the Dominican Republic in the Concacaf Under-20 Women's Championships yesterday.
It was the second loss for Jamaica in the tournament after they went down by an identical margin at the same venue on Friday to Canada. The young Reggae Girlz are eliminated from advancing to the next stage of the competition.
Only two teams from Group A will progress, and Canada and the USA have six points from their two matches, with Jamaica and Panama pointless and can only finish on three points.
The young Girlz started yesterday's match slowly and found themselves behind after only 11 minutes when Dahlien scored.
The USA took control as the young Reggae Girlz took some time to settle, but eventually provided a few concerns for the USA before the break but failed to take advantage of good attacks.
Two minutes after the restart, the USA added a second goal through a thunderous strike from Dahlien.
Two minutes later, the USA extended their lead when Tessa Dellarosa scored, and they continued to dictate possession, although the Reggae Girlz were positive and had their moments.
However, the Americans created more chances to increase their lead, but good defending and goalkeeping kept them from adding to their lead until Dahlien struck again for her hat-trick 11 minutes from time.
The Jamaicans will play Panama in their last game tomorrow.
