Dexta Daps brings A-game to Mocha Fest

Dancehall star Dexta Daps is gearing up to deliver a show-stopping performance at Mocha Fest 2025 in Negril, Westmoreland, on Sunday, promising fans nothing short of his signature high-energy, crowd-pleasing stagecraft.

Known for his crafty, dynamic, and charismatic performances, the Seven Eleven hitmaker told THE STAR in an exclusive interview that he is ready to match the energy and excitement Mocha Fest is known for - especially as it celebrates a milestone 10th anniversary.

Featured alongside international powerhouses Rick Ross and Trey Songz, Dexta Daps said he intends to leave a lasting impact - not just for himself, but for the dancehall genre.

"As one of the main strikers for dancehall, I'm ready to deliver, especially in front of our fans. I feel my international songs blend perfectly with the genres represented. The shows will be great, even for those who aren't there in person. With these legends being part of the lineup, dancehall gets a wider audience and more views. We can combine and share fans, and it's always beneficial to share the stage with international artistes of such calibre," said Dexta Daps.

The dancehall star also shared that performing at the same event with globally recognized names like Rick Ross and Trey Songz is a true honour.

"It's a privilege working with these guys, because they are the ones you hear on the international level...[Though] we are performing on different days, and won't be sharing the stage, it's great to be a part of the same event. So to be working among them is a privilege; I see it as a great opportunity to showcase dancehall music," he said.

The dynamic entertainer has performed alongside Trey Songz in the past.

Meanwhile, fully aware of the expectations from both local and international fans, Dexta Daps said he is committed to giving it his all.

"My game plan is the same for each show - I'm focused on bringing the best of Dexta Daps to the stage. I always say 'It doesn't matter if I'm performing for seven or 7,000 [patrons], I'll always leave it all on the stage,'" he shared.

"I want everyone to leave feeling like they got their money's worth. I know there are high expectations, but I'm ready to bring my A-game and ensure my performance is memorable."

Mocha Fest, dubbed one of the most liberating and unique vacation party experiences in the Caribbean, takes place from May 22 to 26. The festivities promise drink-inclusive beach parties and a blend of top-tier hip hop and Caribbean entertainment.

Mocha Fest 2025 will deliver five days of non-stop excitement, beginning with the Retro - Old School Party on Thursday, where patrons rep their favourite sports teams in themed outfits.

The momentum builds with the stylish Rose Champagne Brunch and the glitzy Black Out - The Black Diamond Affair on Friday.

On Saturday, the party heats up with a lively Splash event followed by the sultry Tease - Midnight Masquerade.

Dexta Daps headlines the Whet - White Oasis party, on Sunday, promising an electrifying, paint-filled night, before the week wraps with the vibrant Rave - Beach Jouvert next Monday.
