Sandz returns on Independence weekend
Caribbean festival-themed party Sandz returns to Kingston this Independence weekend at the National Stadium East on Sunday.
Andrew Ellis, CEO for organisers Supreme Team said they were excited about the return.
"This is home for us and we will never leave our Jamaican supporters without the Sandz experience, even though we have multiple stagings in North America annually," said
Even though the series, like many local events, was affected by COVID-19 and the entertainment lockdown in Jamaica, the brand was able to see growth for the festival in places like New York, Florida and Toronto. With the summer open for events in Jamaica, it was a no-brainer that the Sandz Caribbean Festival was heavily requested as part of the holiday party season.
"'Emancipendence' is synonymous with Sandz here in Jamaica prior to COVID restrictions, and we want to show patrons our commitment to Jamaica as the home of the Caribbean festival, as we return to normal entertainment offerings," Joleine Longman, Sandz' PR coordinator for Supreme Team, added. Dancehall stars Jah Vinci and Laa Lee are scheduled to perform.
"Come for the complete Caribbean experience, the music, the food, the liquor and the vibe that makes us uniquely Jamaican, of course, drinking and partying responsibly. We are celebrating the return of one of the most consistent Caribbean party series in the world, from right here in Jamaica," said Carlton Davy, chairman of Supreme Team.
